Parenting Courses & Family Learning

There are a number of Parenting Courses and Family Learning Courses that are available for parents to access at Three Rivers West Children's Centres.

About Boys Course

The About Boys Course is a four session (8 hour) programme targeting mothers who have sons between the ages of 2—5 years.

The programme aims to give mothers more understanding of their son’s development and behaviour; a series of techniques to provide their sons through difficulties they might encounter.

Parenting Girls

The programme aims to give parents more understanding of their daughter’s development and behavior and offers a series of techniques to provide their daughters with boundaries and    discipline.

For parents of girls aged 2—5 years.

Three Rivers West Children's Centres also have a Family Support Team who are able to meet/ speak with families on a 1:2:1 basis to support parenting. If you require 1:2:1 support or would like to speak to a member of the Family Support Team please call 01923 772094.

Small Talk

Small talk is an early communication group aimed at parents & babies aged 4-12 months. The group focuses on answering these questions:

Why is communication important with babies?

What strategies can I use?

In my daily routine what things can I do to help my baby’s communication?

How can I use singing, signing and play to help my baby?

Early Talk

Early talk is an early communication group aimed at parents & toddlers aged 1-2 years.  The group focuses on activities to promote language development with focus on play, attention/listening, turn-taking and vocabulary.

3 Hour Parent & Carer First Aid

This session will focus on baby and child resuscitation, treating head injuries, choking, burns and all other key and critical first aid scenarios involving babies and children.
